This three hour hands-on workshop will guide you through the process of setting up a blog on wordpress.com

By the end of the session you will have a working blog, customized with extra features, an understanding of how to create and manage blog posts (including posting videos) and a good understandin of how to

During the 3 hour session we will cover:

1. Setting up your wordpress.com blog with your unique URL
2. Configuring your blog with a pre-made theme, categories and images
3. Configuring some of the most popular functionality, like twitter feeds, Google analytics, tag clouds and feedburner for RSS and email subscriptions
4. Creating your first blog post, including text, images, and video
5. What's involved in further customizing the design and functionality of your blog

You will need to bring along a laptop to the session. If you do not have one, please contact me at eric (at) squair dot ca before registering.

You will be requred to do about an hour of straightforward preparation in advance, including registering your blog with wordpress.com, reserving your URL and registering with Google if you don't already have an account. Don't worry, we'll provide cheat sheets to walk you through each of these steps!

In addition to the course fee, you will need spend an additional $60  to get the following options on your wordpress blog: advertising removed, Custom CSS (design) and your own URL for a year.

This course is an addition to the "Blogging for People Who Should" workshop series (bloggingforpeoplewhoshould.com), but can be taken as a stand-alone course.
